One form of treatment for those with urge bladder weakness is quite simply training enabling one to mentally and physically come to grips with it and eventually be rid of it. By gradually increasing the intervals between visits to the toilet, for example, you can learn to increase the capacity of your bladder. Keeping a written record, which includes checking your liquid intake against your urine output, is an important element of your training program.

Normal toilet routines remain important even in situations where it does not seem obvious; for example, in the case of mental disorders or other handicaps. By regularly going to the toilet muscles are kept active and this helps to prevent the urine loss from getting worse. Experience with protective products worn like normal underwear show that they encourage people to adopt their old toilet routines again.

Another form of treatment is the use of anti-muscular medicines that reduce the contractions of the detrusor muscles.

In the case of stress bladder weakness - and in the absence of any effective medical treatment - exercises for building up the muscles of the pelvic floor are recommended for women.

Surgery can be carried out if medicines and/or therapy prove ineffective. Your doctor can give you advice after having diagnosed the situation
